Season 11 introduced the Darkness (Amara) — God's sister and the cosmic force of destruction that existed before creation. The season also revealed God himself as a character the audience had already met: the prophet Chuck Shurley.
Major Lore Developments
The cosmological framework expanded dramatically. Before creation, God and the Darkness existed together. God wanted to create; the Darkness wanted nothing to exist. God, with the help of the archangels, locked the Darkness away using the Mark of Cain as the key. The Darkness was not evil in a moral sense — she was primordial entropy, the absence of creation. God (Chuck) was revealed to be a flawed creator who had abandoned his creation. The season ended with God and the Darkness reconciling and leaving Earth together, representing a cosmic-level resolution of the oldest conflict in existence.
