Fire is the universal purifier and one of the most effective weapons against certain supernatural creatures that resist all other forms of damage. For wendigos, rugarus, and changelings (specifically the mother changeling), fire is the only thing that works. It is also a component of the salt-and-burn ritual for ghost disposal.
Usage Against Specific Creatures
Against wendigos, fire must be applied directly — flare guns, Molotov cocktails, and improvised torches are the standard tools. A glancing burn may not be sufficient; the flame needs to be sustained. Against rugarus, the entire body must be consumed to ensure the creature is truly dead. For the mother changeling, killing her with fire destroys all her offspring simultaneously.
Fire is also used in holy oil traps against angels, in the salt-and-burn ritual against ghosts, and as a general tool for destroying cursed objects, hex bags, and other supernatural items.
Delivery Methods
Hunters use a variety of fire delivery methods: flare guns (compact and reliable), Molotov cocktails (easy to make, good area coverage), lighters with accelerant, road flares, and in one memorable instance, a homemade flamethrower constructed from an aerosol can and a lighter. The method matters less than the result — sustained, direct flame.
